While modern society nonchalantly crosses the veil in embracing the paranormal, more so than ever, with ghost chasing, and communicating with the dead, our government lends credence to these practices, disclosing that government officials claim to be in contact with other worldly beings, often through psychics that they have recruited to channel them. We fail to recognize that the bible is a supernatural book, and Christianity is a religion that has been explaining the paranormal from the very beginning. Defining what our enemy truly is, lurking in the shadows of unseen realms, while the Lord’s word has been providing spiritual body armor and weaponry to engage it. Before the world of the supernatural was believed in, scripture taught us how to engage, and what not to engage in.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:10-17

Not everything in the spirit realm is what it says it is. God’s word says we need to test every spirit; we do that by discerning whether or not the spirit of what we are engaging confesses Jesus Christ as come in the flesh. That the Son of God was born as the bible says that He was, of a virgin, died on the cross, and resurrected the third day, as the law and the prophets prophesied, he would, hundreds of years before He was born. John’s warning, “Beloved believe not every spirit! But test the spirit whether or not it is from God.
