No human personality is identical, there may be a similarity in types, but we will never be carbon copies of each other. Variances in giftings, vocations, experiences, and callings, sets us apart from one another. Understanding this makes it easy to believe that God is no respecter of persons, but actually celebrates our differences, and we should too, envy and jealousy have no foothold when we understand how important we are to God, and how unique each one of us are. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14
The Leaven of Jealousy
Galatians 5:17-26
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Jealousy Fueled By Demonic Intelligence
There is obvious jealousy that I call primitive jealousy. It’s acted out by looks of distain, or a nose that goes up in the air, as the object of envy walks by. We become unloving unkind and ungiving when we are plagued by jealousy. But, that kind of jealousy is easily detected. It’s very obvious and when meanness comes out of it, it’s easier to see and overlook than the kind of jealousy I’m going to write about in this article, everyone knows that person acting out in primitive jealousy needs healing from God, and we are not to be easily offended, anyway. Love covers a multitude of sins.
However, there is another more subtle kind of envy that is systemic and hard to eradicate out from among the church body, or even the workplace. Because it is often well concealed with a demonic intelligence animating its influence. Primarily, I’m going to talk about the leaven of envy, covetousness, and selfish ambition, in the lust for power and position, to have it and to maintain it at all costs, among the appointed presbytery of God. The most wicked and damaging kind of jealousy is the kind that is secretly concealed in the heart of someone or many that have influence, authority, or leadership, over the lives of others. The threat of feeling one could be replaced is a powerful thing. We see the diabolical evil that issues from that fear of the loss of power to another. We seen it between Cain and Abel, Jacob and Esau, Joseph and his brothers. We saw the deadly actions of Pharaoh that went after the Hebrew boys, seeking Moses, Herod after the children of Bethlehem, seeking Jesus. Why? All of them feared the power of who could replace them. Now, in these times another great replacement threatens the world, where the Kingdoms of this world shall become the Kingdoms of our God. The anointed one will rule who is none other than the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The spirit of this age serves that same spirit of anti christ that was there from the very beginning. Against the anointed one and seeking to rule in his place in his stead. Anti Christ means against or instead of. It all boils down to this: God’s people with Jesus Christ as their head, are feared to rule in the place of the imposter body, and the imposter church, with the imposter christ as their head. It’s the tale of two brides, two grooms battling it out for one throne.
We are all human and at one time or another we’ve all been struck by jealous envy.
We’re going on our merry way. We’re happy in life and everything is wonderful but then one day somebody comes along that either reminds us of where we haven’t been, or what we should have been doing, or could have been doing, all along. They remind us of what we don’t have, what we never could get, something out of reach that someone else has, as petty as that is, we can’t help our feelings when jealousy comes out of nowhere and begins to plague our mind. We find ourselves comparing, competing, and withholding friendship, and love towards a friend, a sibling, a neighbor, a coworker. But the most damaging for everyone concerned is when the spirit of jealousy is operating in the household of God. Networking through individuals of authority or religious political persuasion, and those unknowingly, serving its agenda.
How the bible unmasks the darkness behind systemic evils that war against our purpose.
When it’s through church leadership it’s often a Saul type operative. I say operative because as strange as it sounds, these stories in the bible are more than stories, they seem to perfectly map out and even amplify the worst and best of the human condition, that we can derive lessons from. Patterns of behavior still relevant in our world today, if we can only see the parallels. Also, the same evil spirits working behind the scenes, in biblical times are just as influential and probably even more cunning and organized today. Once this wickedness is working in high places, we must understand, it is influenced by the prince and power of the air to maintain its power when threatened, if the Body of Christ in any given city is to rise above the agenda of Satan, we must be able to see these prophetic parallels given to us in epic story form, perfectly laid out in the word of God. Anything to stop spiritual strength and growth. Not of numbers, but of maturity in the knowledge and wisdom of God, I’m going to share with you two operating systems straight out of the bible, that seek to divide and conquer. Our war is not with flesh and blood, but with human weaknesses under the exploitation of the devil. Therefore, the battle is spiritual warfare not carnal.
There is no new thing under the sun. – King Solomon.
Saul as King became jealous of David, a warrior.
1 Samuel 18:7-11
And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousand, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?
And Saul eyed David from that day and forward. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.
And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
Javelins of Jealousy are not always made of stone and wood, yet they are just as real, though spiritual they may be.
Saul became oppressed with envy until he became murderous, possessed with thoughts and plots to kill David. Many good men and women right for the job, in every scenario you can think of, have often suffered this same kind of underhanded opposition over their talent’s knowledge and accomplishments. What would have been the story for Saul if he had received God‘s appointed warrior to fight beside him and for him? Translating this to our present times what if the right man or woman that fit the need was hired or promoted for the job? Not because they have the same last name, but because they have the skill, they have God’s appointment resting on their lives. Not because of their years of loyalty to man, but because they are faithful and loyal to God. The principles of kingdom life are nothing more than enacting the wisdom of God, in our day to day living. What businesses in the marketplace would have been successful, had the Davids in our ranks not been driven away? Sometimes we just don’t know what kind of spirit we are of, and we should check ourselves from time to time, and not assume everything that comes out of us is right or holy because we are elected or in charge. The best way to not become a pawn in a demonic overthrow is to stay away from the temptation to auto pilot through life. Always remain in a posture of self-examination before God.
Six Signs You’re under the Gaze of a Jealous Saul Operative.
1. An atmosphere of invisible opposition. Little engagement or interest expressed toward you. Yet you are monitored. Saul eyed David.
2. A sense of being in contempt of court, even though you’ve done nothing wrong, and that sense becomes more intensified the more “visible” you become. Hidden hostility at Saul’s table of sons.
3. Closed doors, despite visible abilities, strengths, and talents one may possess. Acknowledged but not activated, used but not rewarded, promises given but unfulfilled, to string one along. Similar to Saul and the promises made to David, to keep him close.
4. Small assignments that don’t match the skill of the object of jealousy. David was assigned to be over just a thousand troops, after his command destroyed tens of thousands.
5. Progressing in relationships are slow moving and people that have engaged become stand offish. Often due to “words” or subtle cues to distance them from the person an influencer is jealous of. Jonathan loves David but is unable to openly express his brotherhood to him. He plays as a spy between Saul and David.
6. Lack of fluid movement, not having favor or a feeling of being at home in your fellowship or workplace, you now, more than likely, are concerned for your future where you are at. This is where all the favor has gone from David, and Sual has progressed in his jealousy, in becoming murderous. All he wants David to do is to trip up so that he can eliminate him.
Power Position and Control
When envy, jealousy, covetousness, and selfish ambition, is operating through a lesser authority than those in leadership, this can become like unto an Ahab Jezebel dynamic, this is where ordained authority in the body of Christ, an Ahab, allows or tolerates political maneuvering to posture over the assignments of God. To influence decision making that is based on the Jezebel type’s ambition, jealousies, or covetousness, or in Ahab’s situation allowing the more manipulative or aggressive subordinate on the team to carry out mandates to alter the natural growth and progress of people and their relationships, with in the local body of Christ, or workplace. The ultimate agenda is to serve the god of self.
Harvesting of fields not your own.
It may not be a conscious thought, but it doesn’t have to be under the satanic influence of this operating system. The object of their envy or covetousness may be that they have more money, more talent, more influence, more degrees, more attention! More knowledge of the Bible, more musical talent, more God encounters, more amazing testimonies! Shameful to say, the church struggles with these kinds of sins just like anyone else in the world. But we have the tools to combat this raging force called jealousy in our ranks. Again, this work is an Ahab dynamic that tolerates the evil whims of Jezebel, whose soul assignment is to utilize assets (people, prophets, and the Naboths around them) to abuse or defer them in the misuse of their purpose. To harvest fields not their own. To have ecumenical power for the ultimate purpose of idolatry. Of course, no church goer would stand for this, but this is in the subtility of the dragon this operating system serves.
In both accounts of Jezebel in the bible, the Spirit of the Lord sent his messengers to confront leadership, the church, and her own servants, in their toleration of her. Ahab was confronted by the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 21. Because Jezebel arranged for the murder of Naboth, because Ahab desired and coveted Naboth’s inheritance. She received judgment for it, as did Ahab as if he stole it with his own hands. But Jezebel was not approached in this sin by the prophet, Ahab was. See this pattern in Revelation.
Revelation 2:18-24
And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because you tolerate that woman Jezebel,
which calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searches the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
Another confrontation regarding Jezebel: 2 Kings 9:30-33
And when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master? And he said, Throw her down. So, they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trod her under foot.
The burden to correct and lead properly lies with the leadership.
Simply do not be run by a jealous insecure spirit, I don’t care who it is, family friend or foe, if it’s running amuck under our watch at best we shut it down as leaders, as non-leaders we have the authority of Jesus Christ not to serve, or appease, or make comfortable, this out-of-God’s-order operation. Like the Eunuchs of Jezebel. Don’t become castrated in your kingdom authority, as a believer in Jesus Christ. THROW HER DOWN! Stop making her comfortable as a servant to her. A person energized by this rulership of darkness, under its power as a human operative, is useless when this evil hierarchy’s bandwagon is abandoned. Look at Jezebels dealings in the Old Testament. She ruled by orders to do her bidding, under an illegitimate authority, sending out messengers, facilitators, and servants. We run around as ministers thinking we are casting out this operating system, when what we really need to focus on is her body of enablers. Don’t tolerate that womb-man Jezebel, her fruit is dead works. Choose to serve Jesus Christ not man. Remember, the good works of Thyatira, did not make them immune to spiritual wickedness’s operating in high places.
When envy, jealousy, covetousness, and selfish ambition, is in charge.
One very challenging aspect of all of this is when individuals of the Body of Christ that are similar to our own position, gifting, or talent, is elevated or simply becomes a part of our fellowship. Suddenly, we are hit with a tinge of envy, that we can choose to throw down. When it becomes a work of the flesh, is when we give in to its seduction to act and react against the object of our envy. It’s one thing to have that all too familiar wave of insecurity swamp over you uninvited. Or’ that surge of energy to try to compete. But it is another thing when you deny the truth of what it is, and rather than confess it before the father, one begins to act on its subtle whims. Especially, if you are an influencer, or one who has authority, or leadership. God‘s anointed are terribly tormented at times with such things. Remember Saul and his jealousy towards David. Saul was God’s anointed king so was Ahab; David could’ve been just another son to King Saul, a trusted companion confidant and friend. For Saul David could’ve been the best arrow in his quiver the mighty warrior that he was, together they would have been an amazing conquering team. But Saul became so envious of David he sought to javelin David to the wall who sat at the very table Saul invited him to dine at. Just as Jezebel caved the true prophets of God. These are a metaphor to demobilize the object of envy, who now in both instances were guaranteed personally or categorically to fulfill both operative’s worst fear, and that is to replace them. The kingdom of God rules forever, and when we fight against Him, He wins.
Sometimes the object of our jealousy is the very thing that God sent us to make us complete in our endeavors for the kingdom of God.
The very person we reject in our jealousy is often someone similar to our appointment that was sent to us by God, to add to us not take away. That we can fulfill visions, dreams, promises, and prophecy, given to us over the years regarding our families, careers, churches, and ministries. The missing link that is a spark to the fuel of revival; new growth, and is an extended hand to further our reach, as the family of God. Taking us places we would otherwise never go. Among the sheep, this is something that teaching and reaffirming and ministering to one another equally helps resolve. When each gift is given its place and opportunity to shine, and we labor over the desire to see Christ formed in each and every one of us, love leaves little room for jealousy.
Love reaches beyond our pettiness to see the best of God work in one another.
That being said, part of becoming mature in Christ is learning to examine our own hearts and be on the watch for anything going on inside of us that would be contrary to the fruits of the Spirit, we should be displaying. Teaching ministry and prayer is the only thing that can truly combat this evil power, that and the sometimes very difficult practice of warning, confrontation, and discipline. When a party has been working overtime in manipulation and control, the governance of God demands that we act. As the message given to the angel of the Church of Thyatira stated: I have this one thing against you, you TOLERATE that woman Jezebel who calls herself a prophet. Teaching my people to commit fornication and eat those things offered to idols. We cannot be in position of leadership and tolerate the controlling, manipulation, and usurpation, of influencers (male or female) in the body, and not hear: “I have this one thing against you.”
The good shepherd knows our fragile humanity, so the best thing to do when we are dealing with heart issues in our life is to confess them.
Repent of those things that are displeasing to God, confess them to Him, because He says if we are faithful to confess our sin, then He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin, and cleanse us from all un-righteousness. It’s our job to confess our sin and endeavor to turn away from it, it’s God‘s promise in that to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and he often does that by the washing of the water of the word, after we have prayed and made that confession before the Lord. Then we go into the word, and we renew our mind, in it. He lifts up the humble and puts pride down. When worldly jealousy is in operation, among the saints, among leadership, it is very subtle. It can hide between loving hellos’ and embracing goodbyes, as we meet and greet one another. The middle part is where the devil is in the details, when a whisperer whispers in the ear behind the doors. While relationships are often put on hold until the next time we gather.
True and honest relationship building is our best defense against the enemy’s plans.
Do we connect during the week? Do we do things together? Or, when we meet (and this is where the subtlety goes into motion) do we love, give, embrace, or include? Do we plan, pray, or intercede for each other to obey God, and then do we wait for the Holy Spirit to show us how to make room for more of Him among us, manifesting? When the devil temps you to be jealous and ungiving, and unkind do the opposite. Every church body is tempted to act politically, like the world does in their communities. It is more damaging among us in leadership, in the Church Body, among those that have the power to include, or appoint. They have the power to not give, not yield, not integrate, the one who carries similar giftsets they carry, or their children carry, or a favored saint may carry, or the one who has always done it, may carry. So, they are tempted to be a gate keeper and hold entitlement’s not understanding growth requires trust and release. Growing and changing into the image of Christ as a corporate vessel is how God desires us to work. It requires patience, prayer, and life pathing those in our care, sent to add what the father has ordained. But it takes prayer and seeking for God empowered appointments, and commissioning’s. This often requires Acts 13, style meetings. Coming together with no agenda but to seek.
Acts 13:1-3
Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
Discernment By Procurement. The Spirit of Understanding Recognizes Assignments By the Inventory Provided.
I worked in the forestry department many years ago, and you could tell by the equipment our camp was provided with that fire season was upon us, and what our station would be involved with on that front. We would be the supply base and lodging for the Hot Shots coming in, we would be manning inventory and supplying the camps close to the front lines. Without an official announcement needed. Because we began to discern MOVEMENT and PROVISION IN THE CAMP. This is the same kind of discernment we need as the Church, by discerning the anointings among us, the experience around us, and change that is in the air that we are in a new season.
If God placed seven trumpets in a band then seven trumpets we need. If God puts seven prophetic voices in one sanctuary, then it’s obvious that more outlets and opportunities to prophesy must be generated. God doesn’t stack us on top of each other, vertically. He spreads us out horizontally to cover more ground. The word of God says without a vision my people perish. We need to have spiritual understanding and visionaries among us. We can perish from the earth without a legacy by not having another generation come up behind us. God provides the tent stands; they are human extenders and connectors that expand our ability to reach. Too many times, giftings, talents, and abilities, even callings, have arrive and depart like ships in the night, because the body of Christ, as a whole, is not discerning their times and their seasons.
The wind suddenly shifts, and a curiosity shows up among us. What did the first century church do when strange things began to happen? When a new kind of people started showing up and miracles began to break out among the Gentiles? They called the Jerusalem council to understand their times and their seasons, and the change of order among them. What happened when the first century Church gathered together to minister to the Lord until he spoke to them, Acts 13? New assignments, new appointments, new instructions, and commissioning, came out of waiting on Him.
When spring is in the air, and a fresh wind blows, and new personalities, gifts, and talents, show up among us. The wisdom of God says, call the assembly and let us pray. Let us minister to the Lord together, until he speaks to us. Let us gather and pray until his council leads the way. If God has set 7 pastors in the midst of the body, is He not getting you ready to expand? Do all have the same focus as all? Are some pastoral to the young and others to the old? Are some pastoral couple’s pastoral to widows and shut-in’s more than others? Yes! Do others tend to the sick and the hospitalized more than those that visit the shut in? Yes! A shepherd’s heart can even befriend himself among prison inmates, being an inmate. In prison ministry I’ve seen in-mate pastors in prison dutifully and lovingly shepherding their flock. Call them Trustee’s with a key to the sanctuary all day long, that doesn’t override the anointing from God, whether it be on the factory floor, or among the troops on the front lines. This gift has no bounds, where there are people, they are found.
Shepherds are increased before the flock expands. That’s How the great shepherd operates.
But how many churches have run off good people because they think they only need one or two? Not knowing it was for growth God sent more. If God appointed musicians and singers in abundance to be in a body, and there are only 10 minutes in a week for them to give, could he be saying to expand that abundance in other ways? Maybe for outreach? Possibly, to assist community outreach and revival, perhaps a gift has walked into your midst that has done that, to organize it. Would you know if you never asked a child of God about themselves, to know them by the Spirit and their placement in the body? We can inadvertently cause imbalances in the body and create fertile ground for complacency by not considering the whole of the flock, and the talent among us. By not seeking the father on the unique attributes of the gathered, that have emerged in the hour for such a time as this.
What should be done? Special prayer, special meetings, discern the hour! Collectively and intentionally ask what is God doing? How shall we prepare? What changes, what adjustments? What traditions have we let ram through the delicate work of the Spirit? What old wine skin (forms, practices habits, and traditions) needs to be replaced in order to handle the pouring out of the new wine of the gospel of Jesus Christ in renewals and revival? The body of Christ usually knows not to operate in such a thing as jealousy overtly and they catch themselves, or at least they should catch themselves, when acting out in an overt emotion of jealousy, or resistance to others. But we can create a breeding ground of the more wicked subtle manifestations of the spirit of jealousy like no other group, club, company, or organization can.
For Lack of Knowledge My People Perish
Because we know it’s wrong we know it’s a sin. We know it’s uncomely. We know it’s evil, but yet that evil spirit very subtly finds a way like water finding the way of least resistance, beginning with a drop, beginning with a trickle, an underground stream, jealousy will find a way. And it works ever so stealthily, it’s one of those things you know you’re feeling but you don’t want anyone to see. People that have influence under the power of that evil spirit have shipwrecked moves of God, outpourings, and renewals, by becoming an opposition against an emerging anointing or four-runner spirit that God has called to rise upon a people or has sent to use a people to carry in a move of God. When God moves people change, people we’ve known for a long-time change when they are ready to move with God. We’ve got to adjust to those things we’ve got to embrace change and some of us don’t do that very well, that’s why teaching and prayer ministry for that change prepares people to receive a brother or sister’s new direction or promotion.
Like we saw in Acts 13, when Paul and Barnabas were set apart among the others for a new work. We need to participate in those appointments do not resist them. If we don’t make away, if we don’t pull the tent stakes out and make room for more, when more comes in, then we won’t make room. We will just do what we’ve always done, fumble around in the memory of former glories, falling out of relevance to the age we live in now. Because we lack vision and discernment when times change and God moves. How would it have been for Israel, had they not moved towards Jorden in the proper time?
The spirit of jealousy was that which resisted Christ. Pilate knew that of the chief priests, in regard to Jesus, and called it out.
This is how we persecute reformation. We’ve always persecuted the apostles of change. That is the same spirit that operated through the Pharisees Sadducees and chief priests of Jesus day, especially the chief priest that called for Jesus to be crucified. It clearly says in the scripture that the Pharisees and the Sadducee’s and the priest, the chief priest, were not concerned for the people. They were concerned that Jesus would take their place. They were jealous. How greatly they could’ve been used by God, what great teachers of the word of God would they have become, had they have followed Christ, and not been afraid that he would replace them.
And that is what jealousy is afraid of; a jealous spirit is afraid of being replaced; so, the root cause of jealousy is fear- fear of being replaced. But like I said, none of us can be replaced. The hand is the hand. The foot is the foot. The elbow is the elbow. The knee is the knee in the body of Christ. You cannot replace one with the other. We are all unique individuals, and though we may have similar functions as others do in gifts talent and abilities, we will still reach the world differently when we are in our fullest form. If God puts 900 guitar players in one church he has a plan, if God puts 900 singers in a church he has a plan, if God puts 900 teachers in one church he has a plan; no one is there to take the place of the other. No child of God can be replaced. We just need to have the wisdom to know if one calling is similar to another calling, then maybe we have a Barnabas and Paul.
If the work, we do in the midst of the body of Christ is the same as others than maybe we are a Aquila and Priscilla assigned to join a Paul in a work. A growth spurt is a pretty good indication that God is bringing gifts, talent, abilities, and finances, into a place to expand and to do a work. There is such a thing as a miscarried or aborted Work. You will know when that has happened when a few or a group of talented people have come in ready to go and the body of Christ that they joined stays the same in their vision, and in their operation, and in their focus. They see the talent they see the gifting, but they make no additional room for it in their meetings, they don’t open their homes. They’re not intentional to get to know what God has brought in.
We have to take account from time to time, and ask ourselves a question: Am I in the Spirit of Christ and His Church in all He is asking me to do?
It can be an embedded mindset that has been stuck in that mode for years, it operates on a corporate level in auto pilot, where it’s just us and no more. It’s not an agreement; it’s never anything that a people would agree to ever do on purpose it’s just a rut. We have to take account from time to time, and ask ourselves a question: Am I in the Spirit of Christ and His Church in all He is asking me to do? It could be that unhealed wounds or bad experiences that have happened in the past, have made us collectively sweet but not engaging beyond the foyer. It could be a lack of knowledge or understanding or perception of what God is doing or how the church is really supposed to act like. But, prayer and intentional prayer to seek the mind of Christ will take us past that, our solemn assemblies from time to time, our Acts 13 gatherings to just minister to the Lord, our intentional Jerusalem conventions in the local body working out the things we are seeing and hearing that’s new among us, asking what adjustments to accommodate new communities and cultures being added to us.
In closing I want to say that there is nothing worse than having to deal with a political spirit when God is aligning us to move up and out and beyond what we’ve always known.
I want to share a dream my daughter had a couple years ago. She said to me one day,
“Mom, I see this church in a dream. I know it’s a church because I’ve driven by this place, but instead of seeing the church, I saw this expanded asphalt parking lot and they had worked on making the parking lot bigger and they had laid the asphalts but when it was all said and done, I saw all the parking spaces but no church. What does that mean? I looked but couldn’t see the church!”
This was my answer: “It means that sometimes in our growth we’re expanding room for bodies, but we’re not building the church. We’re expanding the capacity for people to come and park at our gatherings, but we are not expanding the capacity for people to manifest their abilities as a functional body of the living God, it means that instead of the Ecclesia we have a parking lot where people have parked their lives. They’ve joined a parking lot, not the Body of Jesus Christ, where He is the Head of the Church, and where we each are a functioning part of His Body.”
How sad that the church, the fellowship, the equipping of the Saints, the gathering of God’s people, just looks like a parking lot in the spirit. If that is all we have become, what will our answer to God be? One of two things must need to occur- first churches under control of a political spirit must repent and get back on track, and rid this evil of jealous envy and fear of replacement out of the body. So that proper placements and appointments can bring it back again. Responding as some of the 7 Churches had to respond to the Lord Jesus Christ before suffering judgments, and the removal of their lamp stands. This would be ideal.
However, in the days ahead we may find ourselves in the position of David and Elijah that had to depart from the house of Saul and the House of Ahab. To go into a season of waiting, resting, renewal, and even reform, as Elijah was comforted that there were 7 thousand just like him that had not bowed a knee to Baal. And David that began his own campaigns directed by the God who was with him, beginning with all that was his and all that was devoted to David as the band of brethren and their families, clung to God’s anointed King to come, David. So David represents nothing more but abandoned obedience to follow Christ in coming out of an apostate church, who refuses to give place to Kingdom of God rule and governance. This is the call to come out from among them and be separate, as the call to exit Babylon in Jeremiah 51, warns those to come out of this modern day Apostate Church, given over to her sin and determination to be governed by “another”.
A Prayer to begin the process of turn around.
Pray this prayer with me: Dear Father in heaven I come before you right now, and I confess that I have struggled with a jealous spirit. I know this is uncomely for a saint of God, I know it’s not fitting for a child of God to harbor such a thing. This is why I come before you and I confess the sin of jealousy, I ask you to forgive me for having a jealous spirit, and I ask you in the name of Jesus to please cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Wash me clean from that which does not please you, examine my heart Lord and see if there’s any unclean thing in me that I’ve given myself to. I pray that rather than jealousy motivating me to become competitive, I pray that my labors be for the benefit of others, not myself. I pray that your love, Lord, will be shed abroad in my heart, and my greatest desire for others will be that Christ is formed in them. Help me, Lord to be strong and courageous in love. If I have participated in the operating systems of Saul, and Jezebel, I renounce them, open my eyes, give me discernments in all things, I choose not to be one with an ‘against the anointed one’ spirit, I choose the Lord Jesus Christ and him only will I serve in this apostate age, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
