It’s a dividing rod between sheep and goats. It’s a decisive and inditing litmus test of the soul. A window to the heart. A divine checkmate of wrong and right. It outs the wolves who promote and defend it. And has marred and ruined, the lives of millions who have been the victim of it. It was the first thing I changed my mind on, when I received Christ, as if a light switch was turned on in my soul. Are your ready to know what this is? It is ABORTION.
I don’t need to know the political party that best suites me economically. Because an issue far beyond my own personal livelihood, has enlightened my eyes to one thing. There are evil promoters, and activists, running for office that condone the murder of thousands of innocent lives every year. So if my vote blocks them from coming into power, than nothing else matters for me. It is simple to know who not to trust because of their stand on abortion. Unfortunately, it is not a litmus test to whom we should put into power, not at all. However, this dividing rod falls at the feet of those who not only want a government that supports abortion but will pay for it and provide the world with free abortions. It is a simple and wise indicator (given by God) to see through to-the-heart; a window of the soul of those who promote, and defend, the termination of life in the womb. A son of perdition, they are, a reprobate, and worshiper of Baal, Molech, and Ashterath, by default.
When Jesus turned that light on in our darkened soul, and exposed the lie of satan that takes deception to believe, my husband and I had to cross over a line. A family line where blood is thicker than water, where the solidarity of a way of life in one’s craftsmanship was thicker than blood. A line that I’ve seen divide many families and unify strangers. It’s a betrayal to break with the Union over political views. No Union family (of which I was born into) would cross such a line. You can call it a moral picket line. In the day, crossing the picket line when there was a strike, was something you would suffer hunger before doing, in our neck of the woods. A betrayal of fathers, uncles, brothers, and cousins. It’s a cold hard reality, to look into the old tired eyes of a master craftsman and tell him why all he sacrificed and fought for, for my generation, was being blown to the wind over a political agenda. You wouldn’t understand the sacrifice of all this, if you have never had to stand for a cause that hurts you economically and breaks family ties.
The Union
A common bond that goes back to ancient times called guilds. From masons to metal workers, these guilds protected the skilled craftsman that would swear not to undercut each other, but stand unified in the cost of their labor and goods, committed to one another and the legacy left of their trade. The guilds even providing for the funerals of their members.
Many apprenticeships took four years before becoming a Journeymen. That still didn’t guarantee the title of master craftsman, that title took many years to achieve. Four years is equal to earning a bachelors degree in college. But reaching a mastership has been lost in the times. Unless you’re maintaining the integrity of hand crafted metal works, and blacksmithing, as a form of art. Otherwise, this level of skill is gone among the trades. Nevertheless, in the days when fathers and sons worked in a family owned business. these standards were imperative in maintaining a good life. The world needed your personalized ability, or wanted it. But it wasn’t going to be given away. Jesus, was a carpenter. In ancient times a man would risk his life if he rolled into a village and started selling his trade with out checking in with the local guild who shared the same skills. I’m explaining this for people that don’t understand hard line union, it is directly tied to a deep root that is a social and economic standing connecting a people of every race and creed. A people who promised to stand with one another come hell or high water, against big money and corporations, that want your blood sweat and tears for pennies on the dollar. To break that bond and work for less is nothing short of cowardice in the heart and mind of Union members. This bond was so powerful among my own people, that men who married sisters, and daughters, in our family had really no choice but to be Union if they were not already. If there was going to be friendship, and peace maintained in the family. It was, however, a kind of protective shield between us and the world. When there were strikes, that unification was power.
The industrial revolution changed our times, great wealth and industry came out of it, but this also caused an environment that began exploiting skilled and unskilled labor. Immigrants just off the boats, and the poor, became modern day slaves to long hours and low wages. This included women, and children working in despicable conditions. This is where organized labor balanced the swinging pendulum, between fair wages, and unsafe work environments, verses very little compensation, and dangerous conditions. Not the government. While laws were introduced regarding child labor, it was Union contracts that packed a punch, and ensured agreements were met, or the workers would walk out. The last walk out that I can remember was in the late 90’s. My husband came home from work early. There was a disagreement with management, and the tradesmen picked up their tools and cleared all the floors. The next day apologies were made and management was replaced. Problem over.
Labor contracts were the only thing that gave individuals the protection they needed. And not with out the loss of life in the early days in the union riots, thugs with clubs, would go in to break up workers trying to organize a union.
It was the union that first negotiated perks in labor contracts, we now know as health care, to be part of the package deal in what many Americans now enjoy as a provision of their employment. So, many union haters to this day, enjoy what solidarity and sacrifice stood for, and even died for in the early days. Many don’t know that history.
But all of that changed in the mid 70’s the tide turned, for the American Union member, that the history books won’t mention. Over an issue, not immediately understood. Because of a social blight against our moral standing, that the birth control pill didn’t diminish. A carnage taking place in the back alleys of our moral decay as a nation. Abortion was a practice going as far back as the beginning of the human family. Where they learned the use of herbs and roots that could miscarry an un-wanted pregnancy. We read about the first Christians under Roman rule, who scoured city trash heaps for infants born, and then thrown away like refuse. The Christians would save the babies from the rubble of a godless society on the outskirts of the city.
Now, in the decade of the sexual revolution a new type of carnage began to bloody our hands as a nation. The American family who was falling so far away from God, was killing their unborn in record numbers. It is a stain on all of us. Something every one needs to repent for, whether or not we remained chaste before marriage, or brought our children into the world with in the bonds of marriage. We contributed, as a people, to our moral failures in America. The bible says righteousness secures a strong foundation, but sin will destroy us. The world changed, it shifted, and God dropped a rod at the foot of the backbone of America. The question? Of all the lines that were never crossed for principal, for what a unified people viewed as even immoral and a sin, against your brother, what about this line? What we stood for- for gain, will we stand up for life? In 1973 a decision was made in the supreme courts of the land that challenged the heart and core of a nation. Roe vs Wade rocked the peace of families, churches, and neighborhoods with an argument. Pro-life vs pro-choice. Suddenly, family members began to disagree. Whats worse, a nation began to polarize over the abortion issue, politically. History tells us at the same time, the Union began to weaken and here is why:
A dividing rod began to lay bare the soul of a nation. Middle Class America, would never see eye to eye again. The values of God and country was now being deeply challenged and the democratic union worker would be left standing at the epic center of it all. His or her life and livelihood was being challenged by what would become their moral standing. Their political party would betray them, by taking sides with the pro-choice movement. The Union, its administration, didn’t even blink an eye, as they poured millions of dollars of union dues (and for the most part even their workers pensions) into the support of pro union democratic politicians. Never considering the moral dilemma union members were struggling with. While they paid their dues. They voted their conscience.
The Democrats worked that mine. You see, what most people don’t understand is that China is not who our government owes the most to. They are second to the American pensioner. The democrats want to make up for our big spending, by taxing us more. Their hands are in the pockets of organized labor and every man and woman who gets up and goes to work every day.
How The Mighty Have Fallen.
This litmus test, this rod, reveals to the very core, the moral standing of everyone that realizes that abortion terminates the pregnancy of a woman with child. For this reason, a silent army of God fearing individuals, have abandoned their personal political views to vote the conservative ticket. For it is the only one that speaks out against the murder of the unborn, in contrast to the liberal ticket that promotes it. Only one party has stood pro-actively on that side over and over again.
This silent and invisible resolve includes God fearing members of the brotherhood, across the landscape of the American skilled tradesman, and their local fraternities. Who were forced to choose between their most personal convictions, rooted in their most sacred beliefs, over their livelihood. This silent army of true hearts, had to choose between their allegiances and their God. Between a better economic future or a bleak one, to vote for a pro choice democratic party, or the Union busting republicans, over this one issue of moral standing that separates the goats and sheep of the heart. Since 1973 Americans have been born into the realization of this moral dilemma and have died in it, as well. In droves these Union Workers crossed the line, the picket line, to betray the brotherhood for the life of the unborn. Some left it altogether. To speak up over the very reason why this nation has no advocacy before an angry God. To be one. To be a standard. Knowing righteousness exalts a nation but sin will tear it down. Prv 14:34
An injustice suffered by the most innocent and helpless of our society demanded a voice for them, and men and women across the land changed their political party. Don’t tell me legalizing the murder and dismemberment of the pre-born keeps the back alley coat hanger abortions from happening. That is like making murder legal because people are going to do it any way. It makes no sense. In a sense it wasn’t the republican administrations and congress that busted the unions, and weakened them into the failure they are today. It was them- the Union administration that had no moral standing, that cut deals with the devil. Believing that union members would forsake their soul for a shinier dime. They miss calculated their constituents and the Union has been in trouble ever since. Few put two and two together on why. The Union Member’s voting power took issue with a political party their dues supported. Union busting politicians that rode in on pro life issues may have sensed the moral dilemma many suffered and used it as leverage. But the thought that changing your party and your vote could stop the madness of the legalized murder of pre born children, was there in the forefront of our minds every time. The fact it was taken out of the hands of the states to decide for themselves ruined us that much more. There was no where to go that our tax dollars and union dues wouldn’t support this crime. Privately, many union supporting former democrats found financial security was not the driving factor at the voting polls, for them. The best days of their lives were behind them, but time and time again they voted. When a Journeymen’s hourly wage could buy 24 loaves of bread, in 1969 at 25 cents, you can see how far we’ve all fallen from middle class America, into a two class society. Do the math on todays economy. Look at what it would take to sustain that now.
The Unions have no power, not because of republican president. Not because of right to work. But, because they squandered their voting power and their money, in a time that they were the strongest, on a party that is anti American, underestimating the God fearing brotherhood among them. When the line was drawn in the sand, when the dividing rod between good and evil clearly laid it out, they stood on the losing side, and crossed a moral line, many chose not to follow. Though they continued to go to work and pay their dues, their vote followed their conscience. The years that followed proved the worst years on record for organized labor. There is a huge disconnect between union administration and the actual workers. The face of the union has changed forever. The integrity of the crafts have not been protected. Apprenticeships are down, being replaced by laborers. Many of those laborers are not American citizens, and frankly, built in America, is just another label with little meaning any more. For many Journeymen that have been around for awhile, they’ve seen the erosion of quality in their industry. If America is ever going to be great again, this issue for the unborn needs laid to rest. A divided kingdom cannot stand, when the murder of the unborn weighs against it.
