We are going to talk about resisting the spirit of infirmity and living free from the oppression of the enemy.

The spirit of infirmity is mentioned in Luke 13, where a woman was bound by Satan for 18 years, according to the Lord Jesus’s own words. The spirit of infirmity is an overpowering strongman that holds the door open for unclean spirits to inflict a person primarily with illness. But, as you will see reading further it is not just illness, but afflictions of the mind and soul. You know this strongman is operating when an individual gets free from one thing and becomes BOUND BY ANOTHER, over and over again. The strong man must first be bound then we spoil His goods. Mark 3:27, Math 12:29. Then we take ground for absolute freedom in a person’s life. Unclean spirits spread disease, you can be the cleanest person in the world and still get sick because of a weak immune system. Our spiritual immune system in its weakness (infirmity) is not understanding the power of God, the power of prayer, and the work Jesus did on the cross. The scripture tells us that people perish for lack of knowledge, we need to know the great benefit we have because of the work Jesus did on the cross, He is the answer to sin, sickness, and disease. 

Psalm 103. 

Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases. 

In this case the woman was bowed over and could not stand upright. Jesus said to her, “Daughter thou art loosed from thine infirmity.” What had her bound let her go. This was an entity that had a mind, it knew time was up, when Jesus called her to Him. By the time she got there all He needed to do was proclaim she had been set free. Not unlike the miracle of Peter’s shadow, that when he passed by people were healed, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. When we allow for the presence of God to come in our lives and make His abode there, more people are apt to be healed than not. That is why in our own prayer life, worship and taking time to be in His presence is so powerful. Cords of bondage cannot withstand the presence of the Lord, like this daughter of Abraham, the anointing breaks the yoke, the bondage of infirmity had to go. Jesus is the Christ His name means: The God who saves, the ANOINTED ONE! We bring in the glory of God when we bear His name and worship Him in spirit and in truth. Christ in us the HOPE and the GLORY!

Stand fast therefore in the liberty where with Christ has made you free, and entangle yourself not again, in the yoke of bondage.  Galatians 5:1

Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  Galatians 5:16

When a false religious spirit gets hold of the bible and uses it to deny you your birth right, in the new birth, that is one of many devils preaching one of the many doctrines of devils. They will always remind you of your sin nature, and the law. Rather, than the cross of Christ and the grace of God that has set you free from the law of sin and death. If they cannot lie you out of receiving the free gift of your salvation, then they will work on your liberty in Christ. If they cannot lie you out of the liberty you have in Christ to be justified by faith rather than works, they will go too far the other way and teach you that sin doesn’t matter. Completely overlooking Galatians 4 and 5 in context.

 Another false teaching is that healing and miracles was only for the first century church, and they are done away with along with tongues and prophecy, and apostles and prophets, and the gifts’ of the spirit is no more among men and women called to fulfill the great commission. That in the beginning all hands were needed on deck, but now only men are called into ministry. That the example of the first century church has no bearing on modern Christianity. These teachings are outright false for those that teach it, and are displaying ignorance of the word of God, for those that believe it, without looking into the bible for themselves. Lies of the enemy that seek to restrict the power of God manifesting through men and women all over the world.

Why Satan Wants Us Weak. (Infirmed)

An individual dwelling on their illness while refusing to go to the father for the answer to all their troubles, is making an idol of their infirmity. You will recognize there is no room for faith declarations and healing prayer in Jesus name, in conversation that is always discussing one’s troubles or infirmity. Whether it is a physical or nervous disorder, if you disrupt the spirit of infirmity’s favorite past time of glorifying its escapades, you will find the person under its power easily offended, and moving away from a conversation that glorifies the God who answers prayer to save the sick!  The Lord wants us to hold fast to our profession of faith, declaring the promise of God over an evil report, instead of agreeing with the spirit of infirmity’s will for those bound by it. A spirit is a nonphysical entity operating in the unseen realm. SPIRIT means air, wind, breath! What does it take to make words happen? It takes air, wind, breath, to enter through our vocal cords. The enemy puts his thoughts in our minds.  Satan loves words he can agree with He wants us to dwell on an evil report and voice it, not the promises of God.

Jesus Luke 13. Thou art loosed from your infirmity … ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound lo these eighteen years be loosed …? 

INFIRMITY

A feebleness (of body or mind); by implication malady; moral frailty: – disease, infirmity, sickness, weakness. Occurs 24 times in the KJV.

^{Isaiah 53:3-5} He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely, he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

What is different now in the age of grace is that Jesus himself bore our iniquities, and our infirmities, our diseases, in the punishment of His beatings with 39 stripes. Isaiah 53 This is a gift given to us to lay hold upon, bought and paid for by the shedding of His blood for the remission of our sins. Healing in our body and mind, comes to us like our salvation. By the mercy of God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ, even the work he did at the cross. Let us enter into His rest! Say yes to Jesus!

I pray for all those that are listening right now, Father, that a special anointing be upon them. Lord, speak to us, teach us, minister to us. We thank you for the Holy Spirit that leads us and guides us into all truth. Merciful God, I contend for everything that you want accomplished today, in Jesus’ name. Hallelujah, confirm your word with signs and wonders following.

Glory be to God. You know, sometimes the enemy throws out wrenches to hinder things, to create a train wreck instead of a destination, instead of arriving to a destination, so we come against all kinds of interruptions, spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, those that are even listening right now, that today in Christ Jesus, those things that you’re putting your hand to do, to do for the Lord, for the kingdom of God, that you will accomplish it unhindered and undaunted.

Amen. Well, one thing that I’m really desiring to get across today is concerning the healing power of God made available to us in our lives. Talk about interruptions.

When we are dealing with sickness and disease, it can shut down everything that’s going on in our life. It doesn’t matter what it is. The Lord is able, and willing and able, to get us back on track, no matter what it is that we’re experiencing. He will take us over, take us through, or remove the thing altogether. 

And so, what we need to do when we have these interruptions, is we need to step back and contend that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. And so, when we do that, I believe that the universe starts to come back into alignment. When we fall on our face before God, you remember the story of Hezekiah, when he found out, when he had a boil, and he found out that he was going to die, that a prophet was sent to him to tell him that he was going to die.

And he didn’t like that news too much. And so, he heard that news, and the Bible says that he turned his face towards the wall, and he began to cry out to God with all of his heart. And it says he turned his face to the wall.

And when he did, the Bible says that the Lord answered him and sent the prophet back to go back to Hezekiah and tell him. And so, then Hezekiah was given 15 more years to live his life and to finish the things on his heart to finish. 

So, we might get an evil report. Something that is contrary to everything that we know is the purpose of God in our life. We hear an evil report.

The first thing that we should do is go to the Lord and cry out to Him and say, Lord you know, this can’t be the answer that you have for my life. This can’t because what I’m here to do is more than living like this in an illness. My life is bigger than that. What must I do, what must I repent of? How then, must I live? 

And if we’ve been living for God and we’ve laid down the old man and we’re alive in Christ Jesus and we’re endeavoring to live an abundant life in Him, and then we get some kind of report or some kind of circumstance that comes in that seems to shorten that … we have access to the father through the Lord Jesus Christ. Why not make sure not one stone is left unturned?

And so, we have these interruptions.

We have these things that happen that tell us that, well, it’s just not going to be that way because of this and this and this. We need to turn our face to the wall whenever we are abruptly stopped in our path in regard to what is contrary to our plans. Sometimes we need to change our plans or lay them down and allow God to reveal to us what the rearrangement is that is being made. In the right time it may be that we need to get our house in order, because it is time!

Nevertheless, we have to contend for the faith, contend for the thing that God has in mind for our lives. Remember, God told Joshua to drive out the inhabitants of the land. And so, the way that we do that, it always begins the same way. And that is seeking the mind of Christ- His word on the matter. 

But we speak to Him. We need to cultivate that relationship with our father. You know that we’re a son, we’re a daughter, and He is our father. And so, this is an interruption, this is a crossroad. We really need to get the mind of Christ. But also, be willing to yield our lives.

True Destiny

The only destiny that we ever need to be concerned about is the destiny that we have in the Lord Jesus Christ. Because everything else falls short. There is no other way to live, except to live according to the DNA that was given us.

We will never be satisfied until we are serving that thing that the Lord has put on the inside of us. And in fact, the Bible says, He that hungers and thirsts after righteousness shall be filled. And so, it’s a righteous thing.

And it’s a desire in our heart. We may not understand it just by the way that the world has told us how certain things ought to be. And so, we take on the mind of the world, the mindset of the world, rather than the mindset of the kingdom of God.

And the first thing that we need to do when we become Christians is to take on the mindset of God, to take on the mindset of the kingdom of God. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 The Bible says, cast down all thoughts and imaginations that exalt themselves above the knowledge and the wisdom of God and bring every thought into the captivity of the obedience of Christ.  2 Cor 10:5.

 I don’t care how well educated we are.

If we have not yielded our lives to the knowledge and the wisdom of God, then we’re missing it. We’re falling short of the glory of God. We’re falling short of what he has for us because the foolish things of this world are wisdom to God and the wise things of this world are foolishness to God, we need to make sure that we’re lined up to the purpose and the plan that He has for us. We err by the way that the world has told us how certain things should be or have to be, we take on the mind of the world, the mindset of the world, rather than the mindset of the kingdom of God.

We need to make sure that we’re lined up to the purpose and the plan of God that he has for us. We do that by seeking him. And when we come to a roadblock, then we turn our face to the wall, we cry out to him with all of our heart, and He will answer.

The Bible says that whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be rescued. He desires to rescue us. He desires to set us free, and he also desires to get us set back on course. So, we cry out to the Lord, and he will rescue us, if we’re willing to obey him and follow his lead. Second, we cast down all thoughts and imaginations that exalts themselves above the knowledge and the wisdom of God.

We bring every thought into captivity of the obedience of Christ. We put our thought life under the reins, and we steer our thoughts under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Word. Everything that we think and put together in our mind, whatever our Constitution is, it needs to be subject to the Word of Life.

In fact, if you’re a Christian, you’ve accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, to live an overcoming victorious lifestyle. Let me give you a testimony.

Years ago, I learned what was behind the cold virus and the flu virus by an experience that I had. Our children were really small, we just had two of our children at that time. And I had flu symptoms.

And this was in the early 80s. And I was struggling with the flu, and I knew the Word of God, I knew the Bible said, by His stripes we were healed, and many other scriptures I had memorized for healing after my first healing encounter in 1979. We learned to pray for the sick and quote the promises of God. But this would not go, we had victory over seasonal viruses in our household before, but this would not go by quoting scripture, this flu. And it really got me. I mean, I was in bed, I had the chills and the sweats.

And then I fell into a sleep, and I fell into a delirium. Well, I also had this horrible sore throat. And so, in my sleep, in this delirium, I felt like I had woken up. My eyes were open, I felt like I was awake, but there was this evil spirit sitting on my chest, this demonic, ugly looking creature that was sort of the color of, I don’t know, like a grotesque waxed human figurine half melted.

 A real dark spirit sitting on my chest, no bigger than a 20-pound bag of potatoes. It had this long 6-inch fingernail, and it was hooking its fingernail into my throat, where I was feeling all the pain. And I was shocked, and I just looked at it, and it really made me angry, because now it’s not just a sore throat. It’s an evil spirit deliberately inflicting pain on me, sitting on my chest, and I’m feeling the pain of a fingernail stabbed into my throat, and the ache of its weight on my lungs. And so it made me very angry, and I just rose up out of that bed, and I said, you get off of me. I command you; get off of me. It looked horrified that I was able to see it! It took its nail out and started crouching down and backing up like a surprised cat.

I said it again, “You get off of me right now, in the name of Jesus!”

Immediately this unclean spirit got up and ran out, it didn’t disappear it ran through my front door and left. I figured it left the same way it came in. The symptoms of the flu lifted off of me, and I was healed. The fever was gone, the pain in my throat was gone, and it never came back.

My husband was in the other room and heard the ruckus, saw me up and well, and we never again put up with any kind of symptoms ever again, on us or our children. Because the thought of an evil spirit getting away with inflicting pain like that was hard to stand for. We learned that evil spirits even compounded the misery of injuries if they could get away with it, and so learned to make sure such suffering wasn’t being added to, by these wicked spirits. By way of infections and chronic unexplained pain. Our children grew up not knowing what it was like, being a child in a world with no prayers when you were sick and hurting like we did, growing up. 

Because we really got to see the diabolical nature of it, of that which is a communicable spreading disease. And so, if it tried to come on our children, or tried to come on us, we would remember that experience I had, and that just gave us the determination that we’re not going to put up with this, we learned to call out symptoms by name, for example saying: You spirit causing sore throat leave, in Jesus’ name. You know it’s gone when it’s gone, the first time you try to cast out an evil spirit it will taunt and test your authority to see whether or not you even believe in the power of what you are doing.

That’s why being in prayer and knowing your authority in Christ is important before stepping into deliverance ministry, I started with myself getting fear under control in my life.  If you need help because you know you’re not ready and need some work of the Holy Spirit done in your life, then just get help until you’re ready. We all need help getting there. We need one another, but we need to learn to stand on our own, as well. 

We’re children of the Most High God. We’re washed in His blood. We’ve been purchased with a great price, and He paid a great price for us to not only be saved, but to be rescued from all influence of the kingdom of darkness.

And that’s what salvation means. 

It means to be rescued. If all He did for us was to save us from an eternal hell, which is great, beautiful, and wonderful, and thank God that He did, but if that’s all that He did, then what about the Word of God that says He’s given us an abundant life? What about the great wisdom and instruction needing taught us out of the Word of God, for life and Godliness? We need to grow upward upon this wonderful gift of our salvation, that holds the glory and weight of an eternity with Him and discover the WORD of Life in all His Glory. We do that through the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit who leads us and guides us into all truth. He has provided that ministry in the church and has given his Holy Spirit to each and every one of us to learn from Him, if we will seek understanding.

On earth as it is in heaven.

Jesus said, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Is there illness in heaven? Are flu viruses and disease there? Are there boils in heaven? No, there’s not. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And forgiveness is big in the Kingdom of God! To forgive is divine.

Because He forgave us so much. And a lot of illnesses are tied into our ability to forgive. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the power and the kingdom forever and ever. Amen. Your will be done. He doesn’t want us to be tangled up in the evils of this world. He doesn’t want us to be broken. He doesn’t want us to be incapacitated in any way. He wants us to be well and he wants us to be able to go into all the world, to physically be able to go to all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He wants us to be healthy, wealthy, and whole, so that we can accomplish the call of God on our lives.

He doesn’t want us to be wealthy, healthy, and whole to serve Satan.

And if we go out and serve the enemy, then we are going to be subjecting ourselves to everything that’s out there, where the kingdom of God is not kissing Earth. And that is a fallen world, a broken world, a sick and dying world that we are giving ourselves to, its ordinances that are ruled against us. Unable to impact it because our message is worldly and has no power in it. Self-help rhetoric that does not last. This salvation message is eternal, and the word of God is rich with treasure to teach Kingdom life, that we might grow in Him, bear fruit, and our fruit remain. For instruction in righteousness. The bible is so powerful that every topic needed for the health and welfare of man is covered in it. Thank God for those he has called to dig for understanding on those topics to teach us how, better, to live. 

But if we become one with a fallen world, a sick and dying world, then we become a people that are fallen, sick, and dying. Yet, when we become one with God, through the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ. Then we become one with everything that He is. And when we are citizens of the kingdom of God, then the kingdom of God is in us while we are on this earth.

And we are showing the world what it looks like when the kingdom of God has come on this earth, as it is in heaven. We are what the world should be looking at to begin to understand the wisdom of God, the love of God through the authority that we have as believers in Christ Jesus, as ambassadors, as representatives of Him. And so, it’s God’s will for us to be healed, and our journey in trusting in Him for all we need is an example, an epistle, a testimony, that no matter what, in life and in death God is faithful.  

It is His will for us to be healed. We don’t have to be sick. We don’t have to be broken but if we are we have an advocate with the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ to see us through. To walk us through. To take our hand until we get through. Never let hope be robbed from you, in all things we can have peace in Him. In all things and in all circumstances we can have our joy, as we rest in His perfect timing and faithfulness. Waiting on Him is precious to the Lord. We’ve just got to be aware of what He wants for our lives and not swallow a lie that would rob from us every good thing that God desires for us to have. More than anything He wants us to spend eternity with Him. If we belong to Him nothing will stand in His way for us to be with Him forever. He will even cut us short in righteousness, if that is what it takes. So ultimately, even as King David believed, prayed and fasted, having done all to save his first child with Bathsheba, postured in humility, repentance, and in faith for the power of God to raise the child, the creator had the last say.

But, we learn this example of David even if you have messed up and then find yourself in your most difficult hour of crises. Trust and obey and against all odds believe. Live with with God’s answer with thanks giving, and professions of Faith, David rose up to finish his destiny saying about his son after God took him. “He will not come to me, but one day I will go to him.” David comforted himself in the promise of God to be reunited with our loved ones in the resurrection, our blessed hope. This is our resolve, in all things be found believing. 

Luke 10, Jesus said, I have given you power to tread upon scorpions and serpents and over all the power of the enemy, nothing by any means shall harm you!

Jesus wanted us to understand abundant life, in Him. He wanted us to understand the kingdom of God. He wants us to embrace the kingdom of God. He wants us to bring down heaven. So, when we are contending for the faith, we’re contending for the kingdom of God to be manifest on this earth as it is in heaven. Whenever you feel the shifting of the atmosphere to doubt and unbelief because of people and their conversation, always try to bring it back into what would Jesus say? What would Jesus want us to be doing right now? What would He want this person to know about Him and His abundant life? 

The evil report can take prominence and push out God’s will.  

One time I had a conversation over a phone, and this lady would call me and want to teach me her belief that sickness was God’s will for our lives and that cures came every other way than the biblical way. She went to our church that prayed for the sick but for some reason she fought this knowing we had teams that would go into the nursing homes, parks, jails, and prison with the gospel to pray with signs that follow them that believe. Casting out devils, speaking with new tongues, laying hands on the sick, that they recover. Her husband refuted the legitimacy of intercessory prayer, and did not believe in binding the devil, they fought it angrily, and this is why I know that there is an intelligence behind the strong man of the spirit of infirmity, that holds people in bondage. Because that devil would not leave us alone for going out. The spirit in her wanted to shut down the manifestation of the power of God among us.  

And so, she kept calling me about how blessed she was in her infirmity, and what she felt God was telling her about having these allergies and the cold she had this one day when she called. I know it may seem bazaar, but this was a real messenger of Satan buffeting me at the time.  And I don’t know why she kept wanting to seek me out, to tell me this philosophy of hers, when she knew that that wasn’t my philosophy, and that’s not what I believed. And I always asked her if she wanted me to pray for her, because I really couldn’t understand why I was being chased down, to have to hear over and over again her philosophy about sickness. So anyway, I’m on the phone, and I was kind of in a mood where I was tired. I was tired, and I didn’t want to go into this push-and-shove discussion with her.

So, I just kind of went, you know, yielded the floor, and let her go on and on about this philosophy of hers and her cold. Well, the minute I let down my walls and just sort of yielded to this lying spirit, I felt this tingling come right through the phone. This may seem weird to you, but we’re talking about spiritual things here. We are talking about a spiritual attack.  Anyway, I felt this tingle come right through the earpiece of the phone, and into my ear, and it went down my ear canal and right into my throat. And I got off that phone, and didn’t feel well at all. I had to stand against this thing in the name of Jesus the rest of that afternoon. 

It was as if a portal of entry, an opportunity for that false teaching, and the glorification of her infirmity that I failed to resist that entered right into my ear. Because instead of rejecting the lie, I tiredly just let it go on and on, and maybe I should have terminated the phone call, if I wasn’t in the mood to stand up for righteousness’ sake, and correct the error, and speak to the falsehood, I should have just got off the phone. Because it took me a good time of prayer, repentance, and the renunciation, of this heresy of hers to get that thing off me, and I later asked the Lord, what was that all about, Lord, why? There are some folks who are passionate about their religious philosophies, bold and passionate about sharing their beliefs, yet it is not the zeal of God, that drives them. 

 The Lord spoke to me about that incident and reminded me many times there after that that there will be people overwhelmingly bold to practice their witchcraft and their pagan beliefs on you, and our answer must be equally bold and passionate.  In those moments we need to be just as determined to spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as the enemy is determined to spread lies, and heresy, the occult, and new age practices.   Especially when they are seeking you out, to see how you will answer. This is being ready in season and out. 

We must be in love with the truth.

We need to love people enough to tell them the truth. Do you love them enough that you will even forfeit their friendship by telling them the truth because you want to see life in their life?  We need to speak the truth in love. It may cost us, but we see the cost Jesus paid for our ransom, He laid his life down that we might have life and that more abundant, He came to destroy the work of the devil.  Love is standing up for righteousness’ sake. Amen.

And behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, there are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. Lord then answered him, and said, thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
